52 Weeks of Organizing – Week 14 – Cups, Flatware, plates, bowls … kitchen organization

This week has been a busy organizing week!  And wow, I am really seeing a difference after this organizing chore!  It is time to clean out the cabinets with plates, bowls, cups, and go ahead and do that silverware drawer!  Most of my measuring cups are in these areas too, but just work through what you can!

Welcome to the 52 Weeks of Organizing Challenge!  This is Week 14 in the series!  Please note that these weeks are not built on one another and you can start at any time!  It’s never too early or too late to begin organizing!

We are staying in the kitchen for a bit, and really it’s the space that for me always needs the most attention!  It’s time to take all of the things out of the cabinets and wipe them out!  I was surprised with how much dust was in there!  I started with this

It was really just packed full of things .. and extra sets of plates that were aquired since ours had started to get chippy and cracked … So … time to thin out the cups, and go ahead and get rid of the chippy plates and bowls!  I didn’t have enough counter space to clear them all at once, so I emptied one at a time.

My donate/get rid of pile grew and grew … so much stuff!

Some of these things came from other cabinets … actually our kitchen overflow cabinets in the living room .. things that I haven’t used in years … so it was time for that to go too!  I was even able to move the slow cookers back into the kitchen from the overflow in the living room!  And, I have an empty shelf!

Not too much came out of the silverware drawer, but just giving the trays and the drawer a good cleaning was much needed!  And I don’t have cups falling out of the cabinet any longer!

Next week we start tackling food storage areas … first up will be spices, baking and dry goods!

Until then,

Happy Organizing!
